Bitcoin Day 17

Thursday. Had some steak, and some good talks with workmates during the end of week drinks. Bought some wine.

For those not following, this is a crazy experiment explained in this post.

For lunch I got another person to buy me lunch in exchange for bitcoin. Probably close to a dozen people I've converted yet. I've started sending round the link to my instructions on getting nzd out of btc. As we speak one of my friends is doing this right now!

After lunch I sent emails to a bunch of bars and cafe's I had given a tip to, explaining how to get the money out, and said they might get a chunk of the donations I've got if they accept. We will see what happens.

I gave a paper wallet tip to a busker in Cuba street. Who knows, he might cash it in. Has a link to my blog on it :D

I may have found a place to get regular eggs, from a farm of a workmate in Karori. They come a bit ... "pooey". Legit!

So I Bought some wine from a place called Pyramid Valley Vineyards. My other option would have been Hyperion Wines but required getting a case of 6. I got 3 wines instead. A Cowley Pinot Noir 2010 (The first bottle they accepted Bitcoin for), a New Release - Kerner Pinot Blanc/ Pinot Gris "Orange" 2012, and a Kerner Marlborough Pinot Blanc 2011. I will probably have some sort of gathering at the end of the month to celebrate. Pyramid uses BitPay.

I also donated to the life on Bitcoin documentary which is one of the reasons why I got this idea. This is a newly wed couple that spent the first 90 days on Bitcoin.

Work throws a weekly drink up, called Beer O'Clock. This week it was on thursday, and called Easter O'Clock. The majority of the company comes down, mingles and talks. I had a few conversations about my adventures, and got some good feedback. Upcoming posts should be about some benefits on bitcoin, and what bitcoin actually is (probably should have done that first ;))

Went home, packed for the weekend up in Taupo. This included the homebrew from the workmate.

If you can offer assitance, just do it! I'm on twitter as haquaman, on reddit as haquaman, on IRC as aquaman (no h), and email at hugh AT davenport DOT net DOT nz.
